Docniner
I know it's early, really early, but after 2 weeks of games who do you guys project as the 2021 MVP? There's a couple of guys I'd like to give kudos for their play and possibly they may have a shot at MVP. #1. QB KYLER MURRAY- dude has been insane the first 2 weeks. He'd be my early favorite if he continues to put up the numbers he has the first 2 weeks. Yes, he has Hopkins but he doesn't have the superstars some other teams have. He certainly gets the most out of who he has on offense. #2. QB TOM BRADY- here we go again. He has 9 tds in 2 games, seriously at 44 y.o. that is truly insane. He has more talented players than Murray but he continues to show people why he is the G.O.A.T. #3. QB DEREK CARR- seems to never get respect for his game yet went out the first two weeks and beat 2 of the teams that most consider possible superbowl contenders in the RAVENS and STEELERS. Outside of Waller he doesn't have that much but Ruggs made an appearance week 2. If Ruggs continues to play the way he did this week CARR could easily be in the conversation for MVP. #4. VERY DARKHORSE CANDIDATE- TE ROB GRONKOWSKI- how.insane would that be if a TE were to win the MVP. 4 tds the first two weeks, 6tds in the last 3 game including last year's superbowl. Brady coaxed him out of retirement and he's been spectacular for the Bucs. Yes There's Evans, Godwin, Antonio Brown but the connection Gronk has with Brady is undeniable. Can he possibly sustain this high level of play? Could he possibly end up with more than 15 tds on the year? Chances are he won't because of how Brady spreads the ball, but I think he has the chance of scoring the most tds ever for a TE and is somehow miraculously balls out scoring.multiple tds in numerous games I think you'd have to seriously consider him as an MVP candidate. There you have it. Some of my early favorites for MVP. So what do you guys think? AM I wrong with the guys I've named? Who are your early MVP candidates? stevegrab
You're not wrong, but it is way early. We've seen Brady put up those kind of stats over a season, including in recent history. I like Carr and Murray but they haven't shown those numbers over a season either. Gronk's best is behind him, 2011 he had 90-1327-17 and his last 1000 yard season was 2017 (69-1084-8). His 4 TDs in 2 games is not sustainable, but he might hit 100rec or 1000 yards again (one extra game helps).
Finn5033
Murray was playing like this last year and then got nicked up and faded down the stretch. If he can stay healthy he could be an MVP favorite if the cardinals make the playoffs
squirrelmastr21
You need to add Wilson, Mahomes, Jackson, and Stafford to the conversation. I can't take Carr seriously, everyone is falling all over themselves because he won 2 games. All these other guys are putting up ridiculous stats. Mahomes is the front runner until someone knocks him off. CEH blew that game yesterday not Mahomes, if they got the ball back you knew he was going to get at least a FG. Most important thing is durability, Brady (old), Murray (takes too many shots), have to be long shots to stay healthy all year.

I was going to mention Stafford, didn't see Rams game yesterday but he appeared to play well. Russell Wilson is another guy that can put up the stats, but is often over looked in MVP talk. Gopher
If I had to guess, I'd put my $$ on Brady. The Raiders look good, but a lot of that has to do with the defense (and particularly the D-Line) playing well. Carr isn't going to likely put up the gaudy numbers needed for MVP. He'll get some consideration (if things continue as they've started), but I can't see him winning it unless something crazy happens. Murray is fun to watch, but ARI should have lost that game, if not for a missed chip shot FG by MIN. He also had two bad INT"s. Against good defenses, those mistakes will likely add up and cost him. I can see him winning it, however. I just think, if things go as I think they will, he'll probably finish a close second (or maybe even 3rd) behind Brady. It's way too early to count out the likes of Rodgers, Mahomes, Wilson, and Allen. My darkhorse pick is Stafford. Edit: Forgot about Russell. squirrelmastr21
Stafford may actually get better as he understands the offense and his WRs better. Carr doesn't have the WRs to put up the stats needed, he can also turn into a pumpkin at any moment. My top 5; 1. Mahomes 2. Brady 3. Murray 4. Wilson 5. Stafford
darin3
At this point it's gotta be Brady. Of course we're only 2 weeks in, but man, he looks completely dialed in with Gronk, Evans, Godwin and Brown. With their run game a work-in-progress, Brady's gonna continue to sling the ball around. And with that defense, Tampa's gonna keep winning games. Weak division too. They're gonna continue to put up numbers.
irish
Brady, Carr, Stafford. Dare I say Dak? Edited September 20, 2021 by irish
BillyBalata
It looked like the Steelers made a point of taking Waller away from Carr yesterday. The fact he was able to find other receivers to win the game has to give him some cred in the early going.

I'm not knocking Carr or saying he should not be in the conversation, just saying this isn't MVP caliber stuff. He did get some MVP votes in 2016 when Matt Ryan won it. He's got like 800 passing yards in two games, against supposedly excellent defenses, with a ragtag bunch of WRs and a stud TE. That is most certainly MVP worthy. I was commenting on the "he had his best weapon taken away and still did well that's MVP caliber" statement. Doing that is not MVP worthy, its just a good competent QB. I stand by that. As for those supposedly excellent defenses, there's a key word in that statement. I never said Carr should NOT be in discussion for MVP, in fact I said the opposite, not sure how you missed that. 20 minutes ago, stevegrab said: That's not really a sign of an MVP, just a competent QB. Stafford I think you can probably throw all of them in a hat and pick one and it'd be a good chance your pick could be mvp. All 5 of them have the capability to win mvp with the first 3 having a better chance of winning it, IMO.
