seh0872
So, I'm in two fantasy leagues, one of which uses FAAB for waiver moves (which frankly I prefer over waiver priority). But, I really struggle to figure how to value guys on the waiver wire. For those that use FAAB, how do you determine how much to bid? Yes, there's the obvious "your #1 RB went down for the season, so blow your FAAB on his replacement" stuff, but I'm not talking about that -- I'm talking about the speculative adds (like this week's Jeff Wilson (I don't own Mitchell), Dontrell Hilliard (I don't own Henry), Curtis Samuel, etc.
Finn5033
To me this all based on how well you know the other guys in your league. Both leagues I’m in have been for the most part the same guys for 13-15 years so I know how they think. based on that I just determine how bad I want a guy and what I’m willing to spend on him regardless of the outcome. That way you feel good about your bid whether you get the guy or not.
dirtyharry319
It depends on how important of a position/player you are looking to replace. If your 1st round or 2nd round pick goes down and the replacement will get volume and he has upside, I will be willing to spend ALOT of my budget. If you are looking to replace a WR that you drafted in the 9th round and the replacement project's to get 3-5 receptions/game and 50-60 yards, my FAAB offer will be very conservative. Also look at your opponent and how that one position may impact your match-up...you never want t o take a zero so if you have to pay up to plug in a decent TE or RB3 etc, do it
tdybaz
Unless it's a top player or good player in a prime position (see: Mitchell last year) I don't bid super heavy on players. But if that situation arises, I don't shy away from using a large amount of FAAB early in the year. Normally I use it a few $$$ at a time depending on 1) my needs at that position, 2) my views of their future production (re: Conner has a history of getting banged up, so Eno is someone I would want, for example), 3) other team's needs and their owners' preferences/favorite teams. I try not to blow it on several "meh" FA pickups, because there is always that one player who gets hurt and now THE GOLDEN TICKET is on waivers! And I have the majority of my FAAB left, so I can make a concerted effort to acquire them. Edited September 13, 2022 by tdybaz
Montana is da Man
Generally I say, I should spend $7 so if I really want the guy I go with $10 or $
