I dumped Mcnair 5 weeks ago, and it was the best move possible, if you have any other options other than the Ariz QB, go with it,even if he plays he may get hit on the 1st series and get you a 0 like he did me a few weeks back.

Do yourslef a favor and do not play this game of russian roullete with mcnair

Is he gonna be out again or does he start on Monday night?

I hope he sits for at least another week and rests so I can start Volek again. He's way more consistent this year. McNair killed me the first few weeks of the season.

Coach Fisher said there was a chance Steve McNair, who sat out Sunday, could do something on the practice field this week but he made no mention of the Monday nighter. According to the coach, McNair received treatment and worked out Monday, but his sternum remains sore.

Rolle, Calmus latest Titan casualties

By Terry McCormick, tmccormick@nashvillecitypaper.com

December 07, 2004

It has become the weekly ritual.

After a loss (or even after the occasional victory), Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher faces the media the following day and spends a significant amount of that time discussing the team’s attrition list — a veritable who’s who of who’s hurting.

At least two more starting defensive players joined that list Monday as cornerback Samari Rolle and linebacker Rocky Calmus were added to the casualties.

In addition, rookie defensive back Rich Gardner is now questionable with a sprained right toe, and defensive tackle Randy Starks’ status is uncertain because of a right knee sprain.

Rolle underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee after not being able to play Sunday in Indianapolis and not practicing any last week.

Rolle, Tennessee’s best cornerback, had a flap tear in the knee, and could miss the rest of the season, depending upon how quickly he can rehab and recuperate. Even a best-case scenario would have him missing a couple of weeks.

“He’s not been through this before,” Fisher said. “Some guys respond a little differently. We felt like the only way to get it back was to go ahead and clean it out. He had a difficult time trying to get on the practice field, and in the pre-game workout was very, very sore.”

With Rolle now on the sideline, the Titans are woefully thin in the secondary and have no real resource to replenish because of their salary cap tightness.

On Sunday, rookie Michael Waddell got a baptism by fire as Rolle’s replacement, while Gardner played in the nickelback position. They were part of a makeshift Tennessee secondary that allowed 425 yards passing by Peyton Manning Sunday.

“They were both in there playing for their first time, where they had a chance to prepare all week long,” Fisher said. “And they obviously had a difficult challenge, as Michael did with both of the receivers outside, and Rich with his duties for the first time at the nickelback position.”

If Gardner is not available Sunday, the Titans could be down to just two cornerbacks in Waddell and Andre Dyson, as Fisher said Monday Tony Beckham remains iffy for game situations, just one week after coming off the physically unable to perform list.

And there is no help on the way, either, says Fisher.

“The need to add players is there. It’s obviously well documented. But the ability to do that is not. We’ll go on with what we’ve got,” Fisher said.

The situation is almost as bleak at linebacker, where Calmus’ season is over before it ever really got going.

After starting the season opener, Calmus missed eight games with back and nerve woes, then returned for two weeks before blowing out his left hamstring Sunday in Indianapolis.

Rocky Boiman could return from a calf injury this week. If not, Justin Ena would be the starter.

Fisher said Calmus’ injury is not believed to be related to the earlier back injury. Calmus, however, did injure the same hamstring in the 2003 preseason.

As for the Titans’ other beat-up players, Fisher said he hopes Chris Brown can give it a go with the turf toe that forced him to exit another game early Sunday in Indianapolis. Fisher downplayed the notion that Brown might be risking further damage to the toe by trying to play through the injury.

“We’ll not play a player — Chris or anybody else — if we are subjecting them to risk,” Fisher said.

Fisher said there was a chance Steve McNair, who sat out Sunday, could do something on the practice field. He received treatment and worked out Monday, but his sternum remains sore.

Fisher said defensive tackles Albert Haynesworth (elbow) and Rien Long (knee) also have a chance to play this week.

Tackle Brad Hopkins (hand) is out, and linebacker Cody Spencer (abdominal strain) likely won’t play either.
