gregous613
Ok, i have no quarter back this week because bulger is out and i could not pick up a backup. At the trade deadline the commissioner (decided on his own) to stop free agent pickups as well. I am trying hard this week to somehow get him to budge and let me get a qb since nobody knew he was going to set the settings like that in the middle of the year! Anyway, I started Brian Westbrook like every good little fantasy footballer should have this past week and it paid off. My problem is that i benched Droughns for him. This week the matchups look to be in droughns' favor. Westbrook had 2 td's against Washington a few weeks ago but those were both recieving and i highly dought that defense will let that happen again. Which do i start??? I can't bench tomlinson! This is a MUST win now with bulger out...
ropeman
Westbrook. He's hot, Droughns isn't. Washington can't cover all of Philly's options.
mls13
Don't sit Westbrook. He's just now hitting his stride. That free agent rule is awful, the worst thing I have ever heard. Your commish should be impeached. Tell him I said so. Please see my post regarding McAllister. Thanks.
gregous613
yeah, nobody in the league knew what the hell was going on when all of the sudden we couldnt pick up anybody...but then again, nobody complained either, so i guess it was part my fault since i didnt move on it having only one qb, but still, who would have thought bulger would get injured the first round of playoff time. Hondop
Yeah, you need to know that. I'm very RB heavy right now, but as far as I know I can add and drop right through the playoffs (hmm, guess I should confirm that) I'd be pissed at your commish, and I think you've got a case that he kinda screwed you out of a QB option (unintentionally) Maybe you should suggest that he let everyone pick up and drop one guy right now to help you out, or maybe one guy a week just to cover problems, cause it's really not fair. also, just so you know, i thought I was going to benefit when my opponent got 0 points from Bulger last week, but then I was envious when Plummer got me -3. isleseeya
Westbrook is on fire ..Phillies lit up Skins first time they met and expect more of the same this time
Ben-waa
That rule is a load of crap. A commish is there to run the league...but not to make up rules and limitations at his leisure. Whenever there is not a rule that was in place at the beginning of the season, and the commish wants to add one, or change one...he must consult all of the owners in the league. You should not be forced to make a trade to get a 1 week fill-in for Bulger. That is insane.:bigshock: If the commish had made it known that he wanted to stop FA pickups, and put it out there for a vote...every owner would have made their final roster adjustments, and then probably agreed to the proposal. I can't blame you for only carrying one QB. I have had only Brady on my roster for the entire season. I didn't have any injury concerns, and didn't want the headache of deciding my starter based on matchups each week. Overall, you got screwed. I can't believe that the other posters on this thread haven't been a little stronger with their views on this matter. Good Luck in getting this changed...at least for 1 transaction....Put up a post on this thread, and let us know how it turned out. Ben-waa
Oh, as far as your WDIS...you gotta go with Westbrook. Ride him while he is on fire. It was right around this time last year that he got hot as well. He seems to explode at the end of the year. I am not very concerned about Bell. Droughns should still carry almost all of the load. So he won't get 35 carries a game...there will still be plenty of carries to go around. Ben
gregous613
i made a proposal to the commish and the rest of the league to see if we can each get one free agent pick-up to close the year out, i will let you guys know exactly what goes on as it happens. Thanks for the input.
bent520
why were you only holding 1 qb. injuries happen all the time,so don't blame the commish blame yourself for only having 1 qb. to answer your question go with westbrook like it matters anyway. gregous613
bent, we were supposed to have unlimited free agent pickups all year, and have a trade deadline after week 12. As it happened to work out i figured i wouldnt need a backup since i could grab one from free agency if the need be. When the trade deadline hit the commissioner stopped all free agent pickups because there was an issue with one owner in the league picking up every free agent out there that got hot, only to drop them 2 mins. later, which was screwing up waiver time for potential free agents. There was no warning at all when the rosters were "locked", now i am screwed until further notice.
bent520
still you should always have a backup even if it's the team backup just in case something happens to the strater. i understand only having 1 kicker or 1 defense but at a position like qb where you count on there scoring to only have 1 it's stupid. you should have dropped suggs and wheatley weeks ago. gregous613
this coming from a guy with 4 defenses. Sorry, not when bledsoe, collins, and palmer are all there. I just got rid of harrington's sorry ass by the trade deadline and i WAS planning on picking up a backup...it's not like i had no backup all year. Just bad timing i guess. And what type of league are you in where you can fit 4 defenses on a roster??? sorry, but i stopped playing in the free yahoo leagues a long time ago. He shouldn't just lock FAs because one guy was being a jerk. The problem is your commish is unwilling to do his job. Is the guy his best friend or brother-in-law?
