FFTOC help

In my local league my arch nemesis and I have a straight up head to head FFTOC style contest going on between us for a minor bet of $10. We have been close all year but he took a major hit last week by starting Bulger and Crumpler and I now have a 58.26 point lead on him with 4 weeks left to play.

I am trying to plan out the next four weeks. Scoring rules are the same as in our local league which is fairly standard except that WRs get 1 point per reception and TEs (played as WRs as we don't have TE position) get TWO points per reception.

Here are the players I have used YTD (that can't be used again)

QBs

T.Brady

D.McNabb

P.Manning

A.Brooks

K.Collins

J.Delhomme

B.Leftwich

T.Green

D.Brees

D.Carr

B.Favre

J.Plummer

B.Volek

RBs

C.Martin

D.Foster

Q.Griffin

J.Lewis

S.Alexander

L.Suggs

R.Droughns

C.Portis

T.Barber

A.Green

W.McGahee

L.Tomlinson

S.Jackson

WRs

E.Johnson

D.Mason

D.Jackson

C.Johnson

R.Moss

J.Walker

M.Clayton

J.Smith

M.Harrison

T.Gonzalez

A.Johnson

A.Gates

M.Muhammed

Here are my thoughts for the next 4 weeks:

Wk 14

QB: Josh McCown vs SF

RB: Julius Jones vs NO

WR: Joe Horn @ DAL

Wk 15

QB: Brian Griese vs NO

RB: Michael Pittman vs NO

WR: Terrell Owens vs DAL

Wk 16

QB: Daunte Culpepper vs GB

RB: Brian Westbrook @ STL

WR: Alge Crumpler @NO

Wk 17

QB: Micheal Vick @ SEA

RB: Dominick Davis vs CLE

WR: Antonio Bryant @ HOU

That leaves the following players unused:

Hasslebeck

Bulger

McNair

TJones

RJohnson

Edgerrin James

Fred Taylor

Derrick Blaylock

Correy Dillon

Deuce McAllister

I am going to attempt to reply and give a couple things I might consider:

Week 14:

QB: Hasselbeck vs. Minnesota

The others I like, although Dillon against Cinsy is tempting, hard to go against JJ

Week 15:

Looks really good

Week 16:

QB:I would think about Bulger if he is healthy, and not just because I am a Packer fan but because it could be 10 degrees and snowing in Lambeau for CPep, plus with Moss hobbled he hasn't been as effective. And That monday night game with PHI and STL could be a shoot out.

WR: I would consider Moulds or Evans since they are playing @ SF.

Week 17:

These look okay, but it really depends on what position you are in and if you adjust your starters at all.

Hope this helps a little...

My initial reaction to G&S's post was Hasselbeck in Week 14. There's a reason McCown was benched for King. And Navarre.

The Colts play Baltimore in Week 15, and you still gotta assume Manning's gonna get the record or gonna have the record shored up by then, and Edge will be used more in order to control the game against that tough D. Plus, I'm just not a fan of Pittman. Even against the Aints. And ESPECIALLY since you're already planning on starting Griese. Don't wanna put all your eggs in one basket.

Hard to sit Ram WRs. They play the Eagles in Week 16 and Jets Week 17. Gotta assume that either (or both) the Jets or the Eagles will have their playoff positions locked up and will not have much to play for. Bulger SHOULD be back. Holt would be solid either of those weeks, despite the Jets' and Eagles' playoff situations. Not sold on Bryant or Crumpler to produce like a Ram WR.

Good luck. :D

I thought about Hass ... but really he has only had 4 good weeks on the year, weeks 3, 5, 9 and 13 against SF, STL, SF and DAL. Minnesota hasn't allowed a QB to throw for more than 264 yards since week 5 when Carr tore them up with 358. Even Manning only had 264 in week 9. Doesn't sound like a winning combo. Yeah it's a risk to start McCown ... but his ONE good game of the year was against SF in week 5. I am still struggling with this decision. I gave passing thought to Testaverde here and maybe even Bledsoe.

I saved Culpepper for the week 16 GB matchup. If I don't use Culpepper against GB week 16 ... then I'd have to use him this week against Seattle :D Then I could for week 16 I could use Bledsoe @ SF or Hass vs ARI or as you say Bulger vs PHI.

Yeah week 17 may change entirely depending on my position and injuries.

Hass has been inconsistent with only 4 good games spread throughout the year ... and Minnesota has been decent against the pass after a rough start. McCown has one good week and it was the previous meeting against SF. I'm not a big fan of Pittman either but you just can't deny that he has been getting the job done and finding the endzone ... his only bad games over the last 6 weeks have been the two against the Falcons and he managed a TD in the last one (and has TEN TDs over the last 6 weeks).

Bryant has been hot and gets one of the worst secondaries in the league week 17, Houston.

Remember TEs get TWO points per catch PLUS .1 for each yard PLUS points for TDs. Right now Gates is the 3rd overall player in our league, Gonzalez is 6th and Eric Johnson is 18th. Crumpler is the 18th over all WR/TE (37th overall player).

I tend also to like Hass this week. I figure McNown for 2 TD passes at most, the upside is better with Hasselbeck, I think. It also see4ms that Rice helps the passing game a lot for Seattle. I also think that CPep snaps out of his funk, and that should be a high scoring game. Hard to disagree with any thing else here. WR's I just cant predict, no way, one week to the next.

Ah, didn't look at the TE bonus points. That's solid.

That is a solid lineup. I do like Hass this week and see your point about his inconsistancy (unaware that Minn pass D has been that good :D ). McCown is an interesting option. Has a lot of talent to throw to and going up against the pathetic Niners. It's a toss up between those two.

I would not change anything from the rest of your lineup.

And don't forget that Minnesota's top CB Antoine Winfield is out this week. This should help Hasselbeck's chances this week. I also like him this week.
