"While terms of the negotiations were not available, Moulds will likely receive just as much money this year, but his cap figure would go down significantly because the money would get spread out, for cap purposes, for more seasons. "

How is this any different than any other player that gets his contract re-negotiated?

Reading the above posts I would have thought he voluntarily gave up millions to stay in Buffalo or something.

If he hadn't restructured his contract, the Bills would have threatened to let him go.

That's all I was saying.

staying with the organization instead of leaving for probably more cash is classy..... shows some loyalty.

Or it means he doesn't want to risk the market and is more comfortable with "no change".

Basically the organization said - "Eric, you're screwing us on the cap this year. Would you mind if we pushed some of your money out so that you can screw us on the cap a few years from now instead? Thanks, you're a swell guy."

Moulds is getting paid WAY above his market value right now. I just cant figure the guy out. He's not that elite WR that everybody was thinking him to be back in 2002. He's just mediocre unless there is a decent #2 WR to take some heat off of him.

This happens every year on every team. It's called a "simple restructuring." Basically it goes like this:

GM:"How 'bout we give you most of your salary right now in a lump sum?"

Player: "Sure."

GM: "Great. This is a loophole that gives us more cap space."

Player: "Where's my check?"

Capt and Pancake nailed it. This is no big loss by Moulds and even though I like him he hasn't been earning the contract he signed. Now that could be due to Bledsoe who sucks...........
