Guest Sores
The Packers won't be big players in free agency, but new general manager Ted Thompson figures to sign at least a few second-tier players in the next two or three weeks. According to a person close to the situation, the team has already contacted the agents for guards Jermane Mayberry (Philadelphia) and Rick DeMulling (Indianapolis), tight end Itula Mili (Seattle) and defensive ends Derrick Burgess (Philadelphia) and David Bowens (Miami). No visits have been scheduled, but that should change once the Packers get their salary cap in order. "They don't have any room right now, but that'll change once the Darren Sharper situation is resolved," said the source. "Releasing a few other players could open up around $5 million - just enough to compete for some free agents."
nopackerfan
They'll just be picking up crumbs. It would help them if Favre would commit, then maybe somebody would come for a little less.
