It has to be somewhat daring.....yet realm of possibility.

I will make 3 prediction that I believe will be both surprising yet happen.

#1 USC will lose at least 2 games this year.

#2 Florida will win the SEC Title

#3 This will be Joe Pa's last year as Head Coach of Penn State Football.

ok Gents make your predictions

I predict that college football will bore the crap out of me again with their 4 hour games, the endless chest thumping of ignorant fans, and Kirk Herbstreit or whatever you call him.

First of all, to DV - I hope you're wrong about #1, I know you're wrong about #2, and I hope you're right about #3. OK, here's mine:

1) The BCS c-rap will be worse than ever, and screaming about a playoff will continue to grow in intensity. (Softball, I know)

2) TX will finally beat OU behind a breakout game from Vince Young! (That one takes guts!)

3) The Big East will continue its slide into conference oblivion - no way should they get another automatic bid in the BCS...

- Purdue will win the NC.

- Spurrier will get his a$$ beaten at South Carolina, but will beat Tennessee and Phil Fulmer.

- Arkansas will play a 28 OT game on Saturday time as the waterboys will be put into action and reserve DBs will line up in the trenches. This'll force the powers-that-be to change the OT rule. :D:D

Some interesting points to ponder. Heard a few of these points on the radio on the way to work.

Vegas has Notre Dame at o/u 6 wins. Now, I am the furthest thing from an Irish fan, but this number is way, way too low. First of all, Brady Quinn is a very solid, underrated college QB that will be playing on Sundays once his college career is over. Secondly, Charlie Weis - while it may take him a game or 2 - will bring the same NFL savvy to the college game that Pete Carroll did (just on the other side of the ball). Lastly, the Irish's schedule, while impressive on paper, isn't really that tough.

Next, Vegas has Georgia at 9 wins and Florida at 8.5. Too high for Georgia, too low for Florida. Experienced college QB theory, again. DJ Shockey, for Georgia? Erratic, at best. Georgia lost several playmakers on both sides of the ball. Florida, on the other hand, returns Chris Leak and a bunch of offensive starters.

Lastly, Nebraska. 7.5? Too low. They don't have an away game until mid-October, and even then, it's just Baylor. These guys will have 6 wins under their belt before you know it. They're young and hungry to re-establish the program as one of the nation's elite.

Some other interesting o/u's: Tennessee (8.5 - too high), Purdue (8.5 - too high), Georgia Tech (6 - too low), and UCLA (6.5 - too low).

That's all for now.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing on the way in to work this morning. My online sportsbook had just come out with those numbers this weekend and I was looking them over with many a "hmm" :D ... and just so happens he had alot of the same thoughts - and for the same reasons.

I failed to mention, too... USC o/u 11 wins... I don't think they win 11+. Lost Chow, lost big-time playmakers on D. I think they might slip. :D At least the Pac-10 sucks.

Good thing that they're atleast young and hungry, because Bill Callahan is still the coach there. :D 7.5 sounds about right IMO

:D I hear ya on the Callahan call.

But hey, look at the schedule: Maine, Wake Forest, Pitt, Iowa St., Texas Tech to start the season... at home. Now, they may not win all of them but 4 out of those first 6 is reasonable. Then they go to Baylor. Stinker. Mizzou, then Oklahoma. 1-1 at best there. Then at Kansas, and against K-St. 1-1 at best there, too, probably. Then end the season with the Buffs. 7.5 is a pretty good call, but I can see them taking 8 or 9.

Why all the .5 stuff - either they're predicted to win more game or they're not, right? Or is that just a little insurance for the bookies?

I guess when you get down to the big rivalry games in late November and you need one more win, it gets very exciting if you have big $ on it. I wonder how many heart attacks have been caused by that....

Let me preface this by saying I'm a HUGH Longhorn fan. Now that being said, the Horns who are being ranked either 2nd or 3rd in preseason will be lucky to rank in the top 10. Vince Young is a great athlete, but a horrible quaterback. They no longer have the power running game they have had for the last 7+ years. They have a group of young and inexperienced WR's, and Young has absolutely no touch throwing in short yardage situations. Still I think Texas will beat OU this year, but loose two or three more games.

It pains me to type this, but Texas A&M will be the team to beat in the Big 12, and TT will finish third in the Big 12.

The night before that game, The Ohio State High School Champion will Play the Texas State Champion Robert E. Lee High School. I played for Lee about 14 years ago. I'm not willing to wager on the Longhorns, as I've already mentioned my concerns regarding them, but unlike the Longhorns, The Robert E Lee Red Raiders (It used to be Rebels before a federal judge ruled it racist) has a good head coach. If you want to make a wager on the high school game, let me know. I'm actually considering going up to watch the high school game, and maybe UT and OSU, if I can get away from work long enough.

Thanks for clearing my head on that one, but the route the Vols gave them(Aggies) had me confused with the same kind of whipping we put on the OKST. I think the score was just about the same, wasn't it?

I predict that Pittsburg State University will once again make the playoffs, and could quite possibly advance to the National Championship again.
