MikesVikes
From Fanball: Falcons head coach Jim Mora sent a message to veteran wide receiver Peerless Price by stripping him of his starting job when the team opened training camp on Monday. Second-year receiver Michael Jenkins served as the starter opposite Dez White, while Price was relegated to second-team duties with Brian Finneran. "We want to stir the pot a little bit, and it seemed the right time to do it," Mora told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Price finished last season with an abysmal 45 receptions for 575 yards and three touchdowns, while Jenkins finished his rookie season with seven receptions for 119 yards. Egret
I honestly don't think Price is the problem. He's not a number one receiver. He needs another solid guy opposite him. Crumpler is a good receiver, but he's a TE. That doesn't help Price much. I thought Jenkins was even more of a disappointment than Price. loaf
could be a scare tactic but Price hasn't shown me anything since going to ATL.
godtomsatan
Of course if the Falcons had a semblance of an organized offense from week-to-week, it would be a different situation for Price. That's not to criticize them, as the versatility of Vick/Mexico makes them the toughest offense to figure out on a weekly basis. Price is a weapon in the offense, like Duckett or Crumpler. He's just not that valuable a fantasy commodity.

"Toughest offense"--come on....Vick either ran the ball or Dunn and Duckett...passing was a rare commodity in the Falcon "O" in 2004..Vick threw 14 TD's and 12 Int's in 2004...the only question about the Falcon "O" was who would run the ball....the toughest "O" to figure in 2004 has to go to the Colts or Pats...definitely not the Falcons!!!!! Clubfoothead
Probably the best move I made in 2004 was understanding that Price is a stud #2 and not a #1. Edited July 26, 2005 by Clubfoothead

He just happened to benefit from Bledsoe and Moulds for one year and it paid off big time for him financially by landing him the deal of his career. He was pretty worthless until that one big year. If memory serves, that free agency period basically had L. Coles and Price as the big name Free Agents.

I had Price 2002...and I knew that after that season I'd never draft him again
Ruffian
Peerless=Worthless He produced like Haley's Comet passes the earth--almost never. Mexico's errant passes notwithstanding, Price's route running leaves EVERYTHING to be desired. He was a one hit wonder. He should hang out with Bow Wow Wow and Johnny Hates Jazz. He's mud. Vick is still developing. Vick himself is the toughest player to plan for but not the Falcon offense. Colts no doubt bout it. People were arguing whether they were the best offense ever! Price has a lot to prove under Mora. It's obvious Mora is a smart young coach and he will try new things to get the juices flowing on his team. I think Jenkins should be able to blossom with Vick. If he doesn't, they still got Crumpler, but nothing for the long ball game. They need to resolve the WR situation fast if they expect Vick to be what he can be. Dirty Weasel
This news couldn't come at a better time. I was eyeing Price as my WR5. At least Dez White and Michael Jenkins are young enough to have an upside. In regards to the Atlanta WR's, Price is truly Peer-less.
WaterMan
Give Vick a real WR please, and I don't mean more Chicago WRs or one year flashes in the pan. Maybe then Atlanta will be more balanced and some other team can be #1 in rushing, unless with a passing game, Vick will have more room to run away from people his offensive line had let through, and his stats for rushing will be insane. Then people will be crying "Dammit Vick ran 60 yards for a TD! Why didn't he throw it to *insert stud WR*?!"
Goopster24
Yea, I remember when Vick was with the media on Draft Day. He hasn't come too far along from that day. Vick is that kind of guy though; he is not gonna change for the media and doesn't care what people think of him. It just fuels him. Anyone read that SI article that featured him on the cover saying " I AM A QUARTERBACK"? It was a interesting read, but yea, I'm with everyone else; Vick has a lot to prove and a long way to go in the West Coast Offense.
