Guest jwilliamson@horizon-boss.com
It is really hard for me to pass on the potential of Holmes - You think it is too risky at 3?
Roo
That's definately the question of the year. Let me know if you figure it out. If you get 6pts per pass TD though, I'd go Manning. It seems most people here say to pass on Priest though. It's not so much that I don't trust Priest, I just hate having to reach for LJ. Dirty Weasel
I can't pass on Priest at #3. In a 12-team serpentine draft you will get picks 22 and 27. You could pick up 2 more starting RB's and skip LJ? Most would call it crazy to have Priest and not LJ. I am one of the crazies who will own Priest without LJ this year. As long as the Chiefs stay in the playoff hunt, Priest will make sure he's there.

When he does, he plays. Priest is good but there is still that little risk. Alexander there is slim to no risk. He is a TD machine, just like Priest and he is playing for he thinks is the biggest payday ever. If I have the third pick in my draft and LaDainian is gone, I'm taking Alexander in the blink of an eye.
Roo
Oh I was assuming LT and Alex would be gone. If Alex is there at #3 you should not pass him. Well, unless you want to base your season on Priest's health - big risk, big payoff though too. For me it's not so much that Priest might get hurt (any RB can be hurt in the blink of an eye), it's that LJ is really really good, and proved himself last year, so there won't be much hesitation to start him if Holmes is even remotely hurt. Clubfoothead
If Alexander is there at the #3 this is the easiest call I'll be able to make all season in this forum. TAKE Alexander. I'm keping Holmes and Lewis in one league and I can tell you that as of right now I'm much higher on Lewis than Holmes for 2005.

I didn't add SA to my last post, because I assumed LT and SA are picks 1 & 2. SA will be playing for a monster paycheck this year and Priest will be playing for one last hurrah, to go out on top. SLGRAF
I think Alexander is a no-brainer #2 overall pick, so at #3, there is no debate on him.
ts
It costs you two draft picks overall to take Priest, it costs you one to take Alex. I'll take Alex & the extra pick.
frenzal rhomb
I'm taking Alexander with 1.1.

Given youd have to pick LJ to ensure Priest, I think taking Alexnder and sacrificing the meager 1.5 points is the way to go.
rhippens
i have a #2 pick in one of my leagues and was actually debating over the priest vs. alexander pick at this slot. obviously, priest is well worth the price if he can stay healthy. you have to think that he will score 22+ if he plays all year. there are problems though. first, the obvious is that you have to give up a 5th or 6th round pick to handcuff johnson. the second is that he will see less touches this year because he has been worked very hard since being in kc and it's showing. johnson will get a good bit of carries and could score just as easily as priest with that o-line. so it's not impossible for johnson to score more in a game even if he doesn't start if he breaks one lose. so my thought has come down to alexander's points plus the points from whoever i draft in round 5 instead of johnson will add up to more than priest/lj all year. alexander has nobody to battle for carries. the problem i have with alexander is that he isn't really all that consistent. i owned him last year and at times he was very frustrating. he might score 3 td's one week, but none the next. it was certainly up and down, but overall, i think it's worth it. i'm probably going with alexander at 2 now that he is signed and hope that holmgren plays him hard and let's him earn his money. cliaz
Shaun Alexander, he is younger and when you draft him, you draft Consistency.
