Gopher
I'm in an IDP keeper league in which we get one "free" keeper and can keep up to six additional players from year to year. 21-player roster, start QB, 2RB, 2WR, TE, flex WR/TE, flex WR/RB, K, 3 LB/DL, and 3 DB's for a total of 15 starters. The following are the players I am contemplating keeping and the draft picks I would lose by keeping them: QB - Brees 12, E. Manning 11 RB - Alexander - Free, R. Johnson 9, L. Jordan 17 WR - A. Johnson 8, Curry 12, Colbert 12 TE - Pollard 7 LB - Bullock 4, M. Peterson 13 DB - A. Wilson 12, D. Robinson 12 By the way, 6 pts for all TD's. With limited roster space, I am looking at keeping Manning or Brees and drafting a stud QB in the first 3-4 rounds. The players in bold are who I am thinking I will keep. Should I make any changes? The fourth round just seems a little too high of a pick to give up for Bullock, especially considering I can get Peterson in the 13th and Wilson in the 12th. Also, am I better off keeping Manning or Brees? Finally, DB's seem to go last in this league's drafts, besides kickers or course. Should I bother keeping Wilson, or keep Pollard, Curry, or Colbert instead, thinking that I can still get some solid DB's in the later rounds? Free agents from the previous year cost me a 12th-round pick, thus so many 12's on the list. Every player that was drafted costs me three rounds HIGHER than what they were drafted last year. In other words, if I keep Manning and lose my 11th-round pick this year, I could keep him again next year but would lose my 8th round pick, etc.
SpinalTapp
S.Alex, L.Jordan, A.Johnson, and Rudi are no brainers. If you are looking to have a QB that would play this year as a backup, bye week starter, or matchup play, I would keep Brees over Manning. If you are looking two years down the road, keep Manning. I dont have any opinion on defensive players, I do not track them. So, I might be inclined to keep both QBs.
