Big Dogs
I'm just curious how other 12-Team leagues handle slotting teams into different divisions??? I believe we've got it figured out for this year, but every year it's a major pain in the a$$ because some team or teams feel slighted because they are getting stuck in a "harder" division than some other teams. My answer to them has always been, it's a re-draft league every year, so theoretically the teams shouldn't have advantages from one year to the next. :doah: (even though the other team is basically saying they suck!!!) :doah: Had one team this year (who won the league last year) bitching about the fact that he was in the same division as the team that lost the Superbowl. He was saying that it wasn't fair to have the # 1 & #2 teams in the same division. -- which again didn't make sense since it was a re-draft..... Would like to hear how other leagues handle it??? Big John
Redraft: Random division slotting every year. Keeper and Dynasty: Teams remain in the same division every year.
PaulOttCarruth
3 divisions randomly drawn each year based on the first round of the draft. Teams 1, 4, 7, 10 in Division 1, teams 2, 5, 8, 11 in Division 2, teams 3, 6, 9, 12 in Divison 3.
cmoore
we do it each year by draft slots...even #s together, odd #s together (2 divisions, 12 teams). It has worked well for years. No bias and it's random. It's a redraft league, so the slots are random each year.
Itsnottatooma
12-team redraft league. We have a pre-draft gathering a week or 2 before the draft where we pick the draft order. The last 3 pickers (no's 10, 11, 12) each "captains" a division. They take turns picking the other teams in their division, serpentine style (12, 11, 10, 10, 11, 12, 12, 11, 10). Usually much beer is consumed and trash talking is done during the process.

This year we are going to try one divison (12 teams) and the top 6 make the playoffs with the top team earning some $$. The top 2 teams will have a bye week. Don't know how we will like it. T-Scorp
We use playing cards to determine the draft order (redraft league) and divisions are determined by the color (two divisions) or the suit (3 or 4 divisions). That way it is totally random as we pick cards in order of last years finish (last to first).

I mean if I pull the 4 of hearts, I pick fourth and am in the "hearts division" The person who picks first is always in a certain division? We keep the divisions the same every year so rivalrys can develope.

Big John
To add to my other post. That leagur draws cards for draft position. Then the cards are mixed up again and are redrawn for divisions and the # slot for the premade schedule.
Ramhock
In a redraft, we keep the divisions the same, creating owner rivalries, along with using the same schedule. Every few years, we have an owner change. . . and get out the cards.
MikesVikes
There might be an easy way around the complaints. We draw draft order with playing cards. But instead of requiring the Ace to take 1.01, have them choose which spot he wants to draft in. The deuce gets next choice, 3 next, etc. If somebody knows somebody else that they don't want in their division, then they can factor that into their decision on where to draft. But only if the divisions are still tied to the draft order in the same way as above.
