3xcrazy
RB: Minor hamstring injuries to RB Willie Parker and RB Mewelde Moore have allowed RB Rashard Mendenhall to get added reps with the first team offense. Parker reportedly looked fantastic in the early going heading into the last year of his contract before suffering the injury. Remember if drafting Parker that he won't catch many passes and is unlikely to be the short yardage back. The standout so far in short yardage drills has been rookie free agent RB Isaac Redman from Bowie St. Redman doesn't really have a shot at more than a spot on the practice squad. RB Frank Summers was drafted to compete for the short yardage role and has a much better chance of securing a roster spot. WR: Starting WR Hines Ward has taken it easy in camp. Resting a 33 year old receiver that already has a good rapport with your quarterback makes sense. I though last year would be the breakout season for WR Santonio Holmes. Instead Ward was more productive in the regular season. If the post season was any indication then I appeared to just be a year off on Holmes. He is probably the best bet among all offensive skill position performers from a fantasy standpoint. WR Limas Sweed reportedly was having a very good camp before tweaking a hamstring. He is needed to replace WR Nate Washington. Sweed's status for the preseason opener has yet to be determined. I would really like to see him play. WR Martin Nance, Roethlisberger's former teammate at Miami of Ohio, has been unable to practice also due to a hamstring injury. Any chance of his making the team and resurrecting a career derailed by a knee injury seems remote at best.
