raoul duke
NBC just showed a bunch of replays. Aside from Lewis, who is double-covered streaking across the back of the end zone, all the other Viking WRs are literally standing motionless on either sideline at the 10-yard line or so. Something seems off here. Now I don't have Tivo, so I couldn't rewind on my own to doublecheck this, but... There are 2 seconds left after the TD, so a sideline pass was possible, but it seems like Favre is looking to go deep the whole play. Which leads me to ask, was this supposed to be an outlet play to gain some quick yardage before taking one final strike at the end zone? And if so, didn't Favre basically chuck the play and go for the home run? In the post-game interview, Lewis--who's wide left, way away from the play--says he sees Favre break out of the pocket so he breaks his route to come towards him. No other VIking makes a move. I'm just wondering why no other Vikings ran towards the end zone. Wouldn't you want all your receivers downfield if you're in a hail mary situation? Lewis was their only chance to score, and pretty well covered. Yes, it was an amazing catch, but this seems like something I'd be pissed about if I was a coach. Either the QB ignored the playcall, or the other WRs had no idea what was going on.
