historymike
As a Mendenhall owner I feel the fantsay pain, but I agree it is too early to dump him in a desperation-based trade: he can't get much worse, and at some point the Steeler offense will get untracked. Also, with Wallace emerging as a fearsome deep threat every time he steps out on the field, this should take some pressure off Mendy with regard to corners and safeties playing close. The key is for the Steelers to take advantage of deep coverage on Wallace to find some plays for Mendenhall to take advantage of these soft spots: I like how the Steelers used to use a third tight end in the backfield to create a hole and get Mendenhall one-on-one with someone in the secondary. Still, until the O-line gets stabilized, it is going to be diificult to justify Mendy as an every-week RB1. Have faith, though: Mendenhall owners should get some decent numbers this week against the Texans, who are allowing opposing RBs some decent yardage.
