detlef
So, Duke played their first lacrosse game in about a year this weekend in front of a huge and adoring crowd. They rushed on to the field to a hero's welcome and won their game convincingly. That's all well and good and it is rather clear now that the three guys accused of rape got a hideously bad deal from Nifong and the DA's office. I do pray, however, for the sake of everyone who has had to endure the vile behavior that members of that team have exhibited time and again over the last few years that they, as a team, have not listened to all the people who have painted them as victims. That they don't see this support as some sort of vindication for the choices they have made and simply pick up where they left off. 'Cause if they were bad before... Hopefully, they rather see what has happened as a cold awakening and clean up their act. John Feinstein, a Duke grad and sports writer put it very well when he mentioned that we should not lose sight of the fact that the program was completely out of control when we discuss the legal injustice done to the 3 young men accused of rape.
