burton Posted October 29, 2009 Share Posted October 29, 2009 (edited) I recently made 2 trades and just am after opinions and other recommendations: ORIGINAL TEAM: QB: Roethlisberger WR's: A Johnson, Boldin, Austin, D Henderson, T Holt RB's: R Brown, LT, Mendenhall, R Bush, Sproles TE: Winslow DEF: Vikings TRADE #1: LT / Austin for Ray Rice TRADE #2: Mendenhall for Santonio Holmes WHY: I basically don't like LT this year and while Austin is on a rush with 2 big games I was in for a more reliable RB. Which is why I grabbed Rice. As for Holmes I just wanted more depth in WR and I am always going to start Brown and Rice at RB so figured I could lose him. Any thoughts? I'm not so in love with the secone trade. I like mendenhall and I'd like to see what he can do. I'm also not a fan of Holmes so maybe that's why I don't like it too. Hope this helps. However I think you may have traded MenDenhall a little too early. His value should go up in the coming weeks. I know BigBen has been tossing the rock all over the field but it's almost November and in Pittsburgh that means time to start pounding the ball on the ground again. Just think if you waited a couple weeks you may have been able to net a low tier #1 WR from a RB starved team. You may have a trade deadline though. Overall I think you made a couple solid trades. delusions of grandeur Posted October 29, 2009 Share Posted October 29, 2009 Yes, the first trade was for sure the better one value-wise. You needed another stud RB, and you got one... But considering that you play 3WRs (not the flex), then you were going to need another WR3 after that trade, for sure. The first trade only worked because of the second one. Otherwise, you were simply trading a RB defeciency for a WR one. Collectively, I think you came out on top, but only time will tell if the Rice/Holmes combo works out better for ya than an Austin/Mendenhall would for your team.
