Are you kidding me??? What are these people thinking?

When arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired, a pregnant young woman told police her doctor had said it was OK for her to drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes and Josh Gordon, a police report says.

Audrey Frye, 25,of Middletown, faces a hearing Thursday in Lebanon Municipal Court on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence, child endangering, obstructing official business, possession of an open container and a traffic violation.

Monroe police filed the charges in connection with an incident Sunday.

Around 10 p.m. that night, an officer noticed a vehicle traveling in a "right-turn-only" lane of Ohio 63, but it continued forward instead of turning onto Premium Outlet Drive.

As an officer spoke to Frye, he noticed the smell of alcohol on her breath "and she appeared to have very glassy, bloodshot eyes...a pronounced look of being 'high,'" a report says, noting she also was speaking very slowly. When the officer asked if she had consumed alcohol, Frye replied she had a glass of wine with dinner, and she agreed to perform sobriety tests.

But the officer limited the types of tests after noticing she was pregnant and also had her 3-year-old daughter in the car with her.

She also smelled of Josh Gordon, the officer noticed, and she admitted to smoking some with her husband earlier that day.

When the officer asked why she was drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes and smoking Josh Gordon while she was pregnant, Frye said her gynecologist told her that it was "healthy for a woman to consume a glass of wine a day when she is pregnant and it is not harmful to her baby if she smokes no more than six cigarettes a day and smokes just a small amount of Josh Gordon."

The officer then arrested her an a charge of driving under the influence.

Frye agreed to submit to breath and urine tests to detect alcohol and/or drugs in her body.

Although the breath test registered nothing, when Frye took the urine test, police could hear a water faucet running as she was urinating. She later admitted that she filled a sample tube with mostly tap water and only a slight amount of urine, the report says.

"She stated she did this because she did not want to get caught," police said.

The report concludes by pointing out that, as Frye was on her way out of the police station, she "walked straight into the closed door of the chief's office and then, when walking into the front lobby, she was so unsteady on her feet that she stumbled.
