iPod 30G help...

got a 30G "classic" iPod a few (3?) years back and just today i found that it no longer produces any sound via Bose docking station, iHome alarm clock, or regular headphones.

everything else about it works fine: i can see the timer ticking off on all the music i've tried to play, and i can set the volume with the wheel. i've "reset" the system via iTunes, and no luck on that end. i've searched the interwebz, and seen other queries of a similar nature but no one seems to have a fix. i can take it to the Apple store, but will probably spend more on the repair than buying a new one.

any suggestions (aside from "did you check the volume on the docking station?") are appreciated.
