Problem is that politicians, nationally, don't have the opportunity to, due to the very short attention span of the masses, fully develop an explanation to some of these baseless attacks that are levied on them regarding certain issues. Could you imagine if he gave that explanation in a national TV debate... peoples eyes would have glazed over and they would have been drooling on themselves until his opponent got a retort and simply said "My opponent is obviously going to continue the failed policies of the Bush administration and his assault on educators should not be allowed to go unchecked!"
