Bench Steve Smith(nyg) for L. Murphy in PPR?

Smith is currently the slouch of my team going up against the supposedly tough pass defense of the titans.

Is it insane to bench him for Louis Murphy going up against the terrible cardinals defense?

Smith was my 5th round pick and I'm a Giants fan so benching him and then seeing him catch 8 for 75 with a TD would kill me.

The Titans pass defense is good because of Finnegan... and he could easily be tasked with lining up with Smith. However, Nicks has been the offensive magnet, so he will probably gain at least half of Finnegan's coverage.

 

With Gradkowski starting, I like Murphy. Smith hasn't shown much of anything these last two weeks, and personally, I would bench him until he shows some life. Especially if you have better match-ups.

 

I vote Murphy.

I think I'd lean towards Smith actually. I think he's the safer bet to get a handful of catches and some decent yardage. He's lead both weeks thus far in targets from Eli and have actually tried to get him the ball deep on a couple of occasions. In crunch time, Eli looks at Smith first. Indy was all over Eli last week and Tennessee hasn't played against a competent QB yet, so I'm not greatly threatened by Tennessee's defense. I think you have good potential with either play, but I'd lean towards Smith.

Thanks for the comments, yeah i saw Eli try to connect with Smith deep twice against the colts but he was double and even triple covered even though the ball was on target Smith was smothered.
