SEC=UGA
A woman who mistakenly believed she was being held hostage by armed men led to a massive police response to a house in Buckhead Thursday morning, Atlanta police said. APD spokeswoman Kim Jones said the 19-year-old woman met some other people Wednesday night and returned to the house with them. Jones said that drugs or alcohol possibly made the woman believe that she was being held against her will, and she sent a text to a friend saying that she was being held hostage. The friend called police around 6:30 a.m., and more than two dozen police officers, including SWAT units, responded to the scene, on Darlington Road near the intersection of Piedmont Road and East Wesley Road. Officers observed the woman moving about inside and outside the house freely and took her out to a patrol car, where they determined she had not been held hostage, Jones said. The others in the house -- four men and a woman- -- were also interviewed but were not arrested. The second woman who was at the house, 21-year-old Charlienne Singleton, told the AJC that she and her friends were “at this club chillin’ and we meet this girl. Some of the people who we were with knew her.” “We all leave and we come here and she’s acting completely normal,” Singleton said. “We’re just all chillin’ perfectly fine and all of a sudden she just disappears.” Singleton said that a couple of hours later, “we see the SWAT team coming up, and we’re all huddled together, scared and stuff.” The 19-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, was still being interviewed by police at the Zone 2 precinct late Thursday morning to determine if any charges will be filed against her.
