scuba chuck
Background: According to Sportsline, Shelton is a 35 year old 10 year vet (is that right?). He's the mike linebacker for TB. Last year he recorded 130 tackles. Prior to that, his stats look like someone who has taken a long long time to mature (number of tackles per year 1997-2001: 19, 32, 54, 51, 51. Number of tackles per year 2002-2004: 113, 80 (only 11 games), 104) This year: Preseason Quarles was injured and missed the first game. TB also had a week 4 bye, so it's very likely he's been "under the radar" in most leagues. Sportsline reports that he's only owned in 22% of leagues (DeMeco Ryans for example is owned in 74%). The huddle had him ranked #26 in the preseason rankings. On the season, Quarles has 2 FF's and 37 tackles (that's 7.4 tackles/game that he's played in). In my league has scored 10, 14, 6, 10, 15 in weeks 2-7 (that's 11 pts/week, for comparison purposes, DeMeco Ryans is averaging 13 pts a week in my league including week 7). Here's my question: I have him **unofficially** ranked, on my team behind DeMeco Ryans, Kirk Morrison, Donnie Edwards, and Nick Barnett, but ahead of Thornton. Is he really my third best LB? Where do you rank him?
Stingers
In your ranking I think I would have him above Barnett. Hawk is improving and I think Barnett is losing some points to Hawk and will continue to do so. As long as Quarles is healthy he should be a #3 LB. I still believe that Barrett Ruud is the future MLB but only after Qualres starts to stumble or gets seriously hurt and is out for a lengthy period of time. My 2 cents
