CaptainHook
A flurry of beat-the-clock negotiations produced the desired results: the Indianapolis Colts' eight-player draft class was under contract for the start of training camp. Running back Donald Brown completed the list, signing a five-year contract Sunday. Financial terms were not immediately available. The resolution of Brown's rookie contract extended a recent trend by the Colts. Their last significant rookie holdout was safety Bob Sanders in 2004. "With rookies particularly, it's never good to have them miss any time because it's all valuable,'' team president Bill Polian said. "We're happy we got it done. Sometimes you do, sometimes you don't. But the last couple of years we've been able to get it done and that's a positive.'' Brown, who led the nation in rushing during his final season at Connecticut, is expected to push incumbent Joseph Addai for playing time in '09. from indystar.com
