  1. Majerus is a master. Beating Oregon with Utah's best player out and three players fouling out is an awesome accomplishment. UCLA is interested in him, if he goes there, I'm betting he wins a National Championship within 4 years.
  2. I think Lee Smith is probably a Hall of Famer caliber guy too.
  3. How in the world can Bruce Sutter and Goose Gossage not get more support to be in the Hall of Fame? Those guys were lights out in the 9th inning and were instrumental to their team's success. I think they are both no-brainer Hall of Famers, don't understand the lack of support.
  4. Nice call KState. The OSU defense physically beat on Miami, I don't think Dorsey has ever been hit as often as he did tonight. Tressel is a very underrated coach, he's won five National Championships now and that's no accident. The guy finds a way to win, even on a night when his QB went 7-21 and his top RB rushed for less than 50 yards. Pressuring Dorsey, forcing turnovers and rushing Krenzel a lot was enough to win it tonight even with a sputtering offense. I've never seen a game with so many clutch plays. I don't know how many times both teams converted on critical 3rd and 4th downs. I really thought that OSU got ripped by the officials. There were 3 or 4 times that I thought Miami's offensive line was blatantly holding, a few times I thought their defensive line was offsides and I think Gamble definately was in bounds when he caught the ball on 3rd down late in the game. The critical pass interference call on 4th down which saved OSU was overdue. I also thought it was unfortunate that McGahhie got hurt. That's the type of injury that could end his career, that's sad to see. Hopefully he will able to fight his way back. Congrats to the Buckeyes. It was well earned and maybe now you will get the respect you deserve.
  5. All of you that have been bashing the Buckeyes, you should have listened to us few that knew that you were underrating the Big 10 this year. A record of 5-2 in a LOT of tough Bowl match-ups and a National Championship later, I hope you now realize that the BIG 10 was the toughest conference in the country this year.
  6. You heard it here first: -Clarett will have a number of successful inside runs and will gain 120+ yards. -If Ohio State falls behind early, people will be VERY surprised by the capabilities of Krenzel and the depth of his very talented receivers (Jenkins, Vance and Gamble). This offense has explosive talent, it just hasn't had to progress beyond it's conservative play calling so far this year. -Miami will have trouble running the ball but Dorsey will have a big day hooking up with his WR's. -Tressel will have some tricks up his sleeve. I've heard that Ohio State ran only one option play all year. It went for a TD against Michigan in the biggest game of the year. This guy has won 4 National Championships, he's an excellent coach.
  7. lol Boy were you off all 4 won their bowl game. lol First of all, that's only three teams. Secondly, if you look, you'll see that I predicted that Purdue would win. My argument was that a 6-6 team should not be in a bowl (even though 6-6 teams went 3-0 this bowl season). Quite frankly, I was shocked that Minnesota won and pretty surprised that Wisconsin won and I don't think I was alone. Minnesota didn't come close to beating a decent Big 10 team all year. Wisconsin was a solid team but certainly nothing spectacular. However, it proves my point that the Big 10 was a VERY good conference this year and Ohio State's undefeated season was a major accomplishment.
  8. I was NOT impressed with Ron Zook. Going for two points when it was totally unwarranted is a mistake (unless you make it!). Then having your RB throw the ball late in the game when your offense has been clicking pretty well seems really stupid. Add me to the "fire Ron Zook" camp.
  9. I didn't just make this up, see the attached link which shows where I got this from. There were a lot of other stories that I found about it. You may be right that it isn't true, but it has been widely reported.
  10. Another awesome performance by a middle of the pack Big 10 team (at least once they got started). Purdue outgained Washington about 400 to 150 yards after the 1st quarter (excepting the very end of the game when the game was out of reach and the Boilers went to the prevent defense). Minnesota, Wisconsin and Purdue had a combined 9-15 Big 10 record BUT they are 3-0 in Bowl games.
  11. Sadly, it's a typical Purdue game. Outgain the opposition but trail due to turnovers and poor field goal kicking. Hopefully they can continue their 2nd quarter performance throughout the 2nd half.
  12. Dang, what is the deal with Purdue's punting game in Bowl games? You don't see the snap to the punter fumbled too often but Purdue did it twice in their Bowl game vs. Kansas State a few years back, once in the Rose Bowl two years ago and today in the Sun Bowl. Don't they practice their punt teams between the end of the regular season and the Bowl game?
  13. Kstate: about 2/3rds down this article they discuss the tragedy of birds divebombing down into the blue turf thinking it's a lake. It turns out that the birds ARE getting smarter, as less birds are needlessly dying now. http://www.collegefootballnews.com/2000_Fe...20Hendricks.htm
