Saban to the Dolphins ?

Baton Rouge is abuzz about the future of LSU coach Nick Saban and the Tiger football program.

In a prepared release from the university this morning, Saban announced he met with the Miami Dolphins yesterday about their head coaching vacancy. While Tiger fans have heard this before, i.e. Saban's meetings in the past with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Chicago Bears, this time there might be a bit more to the story.

Tiger Rag sources have reported Saban has potentially been offered $5 million a season as well as the reigns of the program as the Dolphins' general manager. It has been reported, this has been the deciding factor in the past that has kept Saban from re-entering the NFL ranks as a head coach. A year ago, Jerry Angelo of the Chigaco Bears met with Saban in Baton Rouge, but it was rumored the Bears were not prepared to give Saban total control.

The Dolphins seem to have other plans.

While we speculate Saban's future with LSU, the potential for the fifth-year head coach to bolt is there. But as it has happened so many times in the past, Saban has spurned the money and power of the NFL to remain as the head coach at LSU.

Saban meets with his team today at 2 p.m. for the first time in preparation for LSU's matchup with Iowa in Capital One Bowl on New Year's Day. He will then meet with the media in a 5:30 p.m. press conference. Tiger Rag will be there and will follow the developments bringing them to you as they happen.
