Grits and Shins
Back in week 11 my arch nemesis (for 12 years now) defeated me to win our division ... I did manage to defeat him the first game of the year but when it counted he defeated me and won the division. Worse yet his team outscored my team 9 out of the 13 weeks of the regular season meaning he won $10 from me on side bets (we have a $2 side bet each week). I was the 4th highest scoring team in the league (he was first) and made the playoffs as the 5th seed ... he was the 2nd seed. So as fate would have it ... we matched up in the 2nd round. I thought for sure I was done for. The chess game began almost immediately with me grabbing TJ Housh off the waiver wire so he couldn't. He grabbed Freddie Jones. 3 points to me. Then he picked up SD's defense to play instead of Baltimore ... 16 points for him. Then I picked up Stover for 2 reasons ... so I could start the dome kicker instead of Shane Graham against Buffalo and so he wouldn't pick him up to play instead of Akers ... 5 points to me. He confirmed he would have made both moves ... so I felt good about the $7 I spent. Then I benched Favre for Griese giving up 12.96 points. I benched JJones for WMcGahee giving up 7.5 points. I benched Derrick Mason for Anquan Boldin giving up 18.30 points. I benched Hines Ward for Michael Clayton giving up 13.1 points. He benched Shockey for Freddie giving up 8.1 points. So despite all the bad coaching moves I go into Monday night with a 17.4 lead against his Chris Chambers. Chambers had scored enough points to beat me 4 out of the last 5 weeks. I thought for sure I was toast. It is oh so sweet to be going to the SB ... but even more so having defeated my arch nemesis to do so! It's the first time we have ever met in the playoffs in 12 years and on paper his team was clearly better than mine ... but that's why we play the game
Grits and Shins
Oh ... and he tried to work a trade all week ... Pittman for a WR ... he FINALLY got a response Saturday that he could get Driver for Pittman ... but by then he'd already spent $6 for Freddie Jones and it would have cost another $7 to trade for Driver. He makes this move ... he wins.
