ced1001
Report: Seymour to end holdout By Associated Press | August 2, 2005 Richard Seymour, the three-time Pro Bowl defensive end who staged a holdout for more money, has reportedly reached agreement with the New England Patriots that gives him a pay raise for the upcoming season. According to a report on Foxsports.com, which didn’t cite any sources, Seymour will receive about $4 million for the 2005 season. However, he did not get the long-term contract extension he had been seeking, according to the report. Stacey James, spokesman for the Patriots, said Tuesday that he had no comment on the reports. Maximum Sports Management of Roanoke, Ind., which represents Seymour in contract matters, did not immediately return a call seeking comment. Seymour is entering the fifth year of a six-year, $14.3 million contract he signed as a rookie in 2001. He has been on three Super Bowl championship teams with the Pats. The report said Seymour was expected to report to training camp in Foxboro within the next day or two. The Pats opened camp July 24, and could fine Seymour $6,000 for every day that he missed. Seymour also was subject to about $9,000 in fines for missing the Pats' June minicamp. Seymour injured his knee late in the 2004 season and missed the first two playoff games before returning for the Super Bowl against Philadelphia.
