splotchman
Watching LJ wreak havoc on opposing defenses this past few months, I always wondered what the hell his TD celebration is all about. hooknladder
I saw him interviewed on NFL network where he spoke about what it meant ( I assumed he was making an arrowhead) and knowing the NFL I'll bet they put a quick stop to that. Something along the lines of " do your commercial on your own time.
Guest THEbigred
End zone celebrations (ie beyond a quick high-5 or spike the ball kinda thing) are by definition asinine. His is hardly the worst though. At least it's fairly subtle and benign.
myhousekey
I'm always of the opinion....if you don't like the celebration then keep the guy out of the endzone. Edited January 3, 2006 by myhousekey
scb175
Man.. you usually dont get to meet people on the internet who use asinine and benign in the same post.... Anyways, I always thought his hand gesture symbolized his initials. L.J. L is on the left hand, while J is on the right. I thought it was pretty cool Edited January 3, 2006 by scb175
Randall
From the same article something else- Continuing on the subject of gestures, the latest on Fingergate, the obscene gesture flashed by Gunther Cunningham during the Chiefs-Cowboys game on Sunday: Yep, it’s there. You were right. It’s an obscene gesture, although it looked like Gunther was simply signaling in his new defensive alignment, The Bird Defense. We looked at the game tape in our office Wednesday, frame by frame, like we were all examining the Zapruder film (“Back, and to the right … back, and to the right”). It’s there, in a millisecond, too quick for the eye at normal speed. But it’s there. League officials knew nothing about the gesture before we talked to them Wednesday, but now don’t be surprised if it comes back later in the week and removes any excess green in Gunther’s wallet. I kind of thought he was calling out the other team as, umm, well pu$$ys, by flashing the rather unknown international sign for \/agina but I guess the link makes more sense. Pretty stupid marketing plan if you ask me. I would have never known what it meant if you hadnt posted this.
Ziachild007
To be honest, I thought he was doing the "Diamond Cutter" myself, until I heard the interview on NFL Network. Diamond Dallas Page was using this in the ealry 90s, but I never knew he had it copyrighted........interesting.

I always thought that LJ just made up that hand thing he does. Interesting that commercialism has made it into TD celebrations.
