muck
Kudos to my brother in law, the head mens golf coach at Texas Tech... ...scrolling down about half way... "Ron Balicki: The thing about college golf nowadays is there pretty much are no surprises. Long gone are the days when only a handful of teams dominated and everyone else fell into the "surprise" category. One of the teams that I feel could make a statement in the postseason is Texas Tech. Coach Greg Sands has done a marvelous job of building this program in his six years at the helm and this could be Tech's break-out season. Last spring the Red Raiders finished No. 33 in the Golfweek rankings, but failed to advance to the NCAA finals after placing 21st in the central region. Tech is led by junior Oscar Floren (29th) of Sweden, who last summer qualified for the British Open, and senior Andrew Dresser (56th). The Red Raiders ranked 34th after a fall season where they finished third at the Tucker and fifth at the Carpet Capital and Barona Cup. Earlier this spring, Tech placed second by five shots behind No. 5 UCLA at the Mercedes and in the process finished higher than top-10 teams Florida, Tennessee and Georgia State, as well as the likes of South Carolina, Auburn, Alabama and LSU. If you haven't already, put the Red Raiders on your radar screen." .......... His first year on the job was the first time that TT went to the NCAA Finals in 25 years ... and he was the youngest Division I coach in any mens sport (I think) that year (he was 25 or 26 at the time) ...
