Chavez
Capsule review of the show - I had forgotten that for all their goodness, CF are responsible for some bad things as well - they were, so far as I know, the inspiration for the comical "death paint" that many of the black metal bands wear - their guitarist looked like Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas. And CF Are. Very. Serious. But aside from minor eye rolling at that, they did great - a few from the new album, but several old classic - "Dethroned Emperor", "Morbid Tales", "Procreation of the Wicked" - no "Into the Crypt of Rays" or "Jewel Throne" but you can't have everything in a <60 minute set. Martin Ain, though a bit more robust than in CF's salad days, provides a compelling stage presence and has this great "mad Russian kulak off his meds" look going. Tom G Warrior could do a bit more, but still, definitely a sweet show - especially considering I didn't pay for the tix (which I would've). Chavez
I didn't stick around for Type O. I'm guessing they hadn't changed their goth metal schtick from when I saw them several years ago, and while it's entertaining and different, I start : about 5 or 6 songs in.
