ok. So two years or so ago, we bought a new printer/scanner. It's a HP PSC2170. It's been very good to us so far. The problem is when we bought it I had a desk top computer, and about a year after that, it had a melt down. I have since bought a lap top. So I finally had need to print something, and I can't find the disk it came with. So I downloaded the driver and installed it. Printer works great. Problem is I can't get the thing to scan. When I try to, it says the scanning device is not available, and to make sure it is connected. Suffering succotash!?? Is there a separate driver for the scanner portion of this printer??

Any help is greatly appreciated. TIA :D

Try this:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documen...e=45375〈=en

When I searched the drivers I got this:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...n〈=en&cc=us

:D

Try going to device manager and if it's there uninstall and reinstall. If it's not there, try a "New Hardware" install.

Best I can do for now. I'll try more tomorrow if you still need help.

This worked. I had to install a critical update from HP since the printer had been installed using Windows2000 and my lap top is now running XP.

Just as I suspected, the tailgate knows all!! :D
