Back Up QB

In one of my other leagues(not the team listed in signature) I drafted P Manning as my QB. By the time I drafted my back up the best ones available had the same bye week as Indy. I talked to another team owner about maybe trading back up QB's with him. He has Rivers as his starter and Hasselbeck as his back up. Our trade would be Big Ben for Hasslebeck. After our draft was over one of the other teams put Young up on the trading block. Should I go ahead with the original trade or see if I can trade Big Ben for Young? The other thing I was thinking about was maybe a 3 way trade, Big Ben for Hasselbeck then Hasselbeck for Young.

 

Unless Manning has an injury I only plan on playing the back up 1 week. In week 6(Indy's bye week) Tenn plays @ TB and Sea plays NO.

 

Who would you rather have as your back up?

Passing 25 yds = 1pt

TD = 6 pts

Int = -2pts

Fmb = -2pts

Run 10 yds = 1 pt

Your team is pretty solid otherwise, so I wouldn't be too overly concerned with this one week debacle.

 

I drafted Peyton, and had a similar situation as I could have taken JP Losman as my backup in the 2nd to last round, but his bye week was the same.

 

As such, I drafted Matt Schaub. Really, you'd probably have been fine if you didn't draft one at all and picked one up off of waivers.

 

I'd rather have Hasselbeck than Young, he's a much better passer in a much more potent offense, regardless of matchups.

 

Either way though, losing Big Ben for one of those two is an upgrade.

Since Rushing/Passing TD's are all 6pts, Young's legs don't do too much for you, so Hasselbecks superior receiving corps makes him the better backup for you.

 

Also, since history shows you'll need him for one week out of the season, I like the chance of a Seahawks - Saints barnburner much more then TEN - TBY. That Titans - Bucs game could easily be a 16-10 stinker.
