blueapple
So I know everyone else is focusing in on picking up those FA RBs and WRs, and here I am asking about kickers. Right now I have Kasay, who I drafted in the 25th (last) round of my draft. He is okay, but I am wondering if I should be looking to upgrade. Here are some current FAs out there... Shayne Graham Mason Crosby Stephen Gostkowski Joe Nedney I really like what i saw with Crosby today. Hit all 3 of 3 in his first NFL game. Also, he seems to have great stats in college. Gostkowski seems to have some good upside, but was very shaky last year. Here is the scoring in our league for kicks: Field Goals 0-19 Yards (3) Field Goals 20-29 Yards (3) Field Goals 30-39 Yards (3) Field Goals 40-49 Yards (4) Field Goals 50+ Yards (5) Field Goals Missed 0-19 Yards (-5) Field Goals Missed 20-29 Yards (-4) Field Goals Missed 30-39 Yards (-3) Field Goals Missed 40-49 Yards (-2) Field Goals Missed 50+ Yards (-1) Point After Attempt Made (1) Point After Attempt Missed (-5) It heavily rewards long kicks, but also penalizes misses (-5 for missed PAT, which Graham had 2 of last year) Thanks for any advice and insight you can offer! Feartheturtle
Graham is probably the best overall, but he has a hip pointer right now and is shaky. The problem with Gostkowski and Crosby is they will be kicking in the snow when you have your FF playoffs. I think Nedney and Kasay are a wash, so I would either stand pat, or pick up Gostkowski now and consider dumping him later. Either way, Kickers are not what is going to win your league, so don't spend too much time thinking about it.
