dmarc117
Chicago boy on dialysis cheated out of go-cart By AMANDA LEE MYERS | Associated Press Writer 5:30 PM CDT, September 4, 2008 PHOENIX - An Arizona man has been accused of cheating a Chicago boy with a terminal illness out of a go-cart. Authorities say 53-year-old Douglas Riesberg received $11,000 from the Make-A-Wish Foundation's Chicago chapter in March for a custom go-cart for the boy, who is 16 and on dialysis. The go-cart was expected to be finished in three weeks, but police said Make-A-Wish never heard back from Riesberg. Deputies found him in an Arizona jail on drug charges Saturday. He allegedly said he was having problems getting a custom go-cart and planned to give the boy his personal cart. A request to interview Riesberg was not immediately answered. He remains jailed on fraud, theft and drug charges. A Make-A-Wish spokesman says the foundation is working to make sure the wish is granted.
