Footballjoe
When I turn my shower off I still have a nice little stream of water still pouring. How does one fix this without calling a plumber? TIA How long does the water run? If its just for a minute or two its the water draining out of the shower riser. If it continues to run or drip you need to replace the faucet washers. There are many types so its hard to tell you what to do without knowing what knd of faucet you have. moneymakers
If you replace the washer - go ahead and replace the seat.
Shotgun Messiahs
It doesn't stop. When I take out the screws off the faucets I can't figure out what to do next. I tried pulling the knobs off or turning them and nothing happens.

I tried pulling the knobs off or turning them and nothing happens. I am guessing you have an old faucet. Probably chrome handle. You will need to get a aucet handle puller from the hardware store t remove them without damaging them. You will also need a special wrench to get them stems out if they are recessed in the wall. Once the stem is out you need to replace the washer. Sometimes on old stem the washers break up and are a bear to get out. You also want to replace the O rings and the seat. You wil need another special tool for removing the seat. One option you could take is once the stem is removed carry it to Lowes or HD and see if they have a replacement kit. They carry some and by doing this you are replacing everything. Its a complete rebuild. The only thing that is not replaced is the body of the faucet. Most of the kits cost about $49.00 or so. I am guessing all the tools will cost about $40. Still cheaper than a plumbem plus you get the tools for next time and the satisfaction of doing it yourself. I am off to do a job shortly but I will PM my phone number. Feel free to call if you need some advice.
