Chalk
we are looking at possibly 3+ teams tied at 7-6 looking for 2 playoff spots. Our tie breakers are: Head to Head Division Highest Points against Highest points for If you have teams tied at head to head x beat y, y beat z, and z beat x, we go to division Team X has better division record than other 2 so he makes the playoffs. (Y and Z are tied at 3-3) Do you take it to the next tie breaker of points against or start again at the top with the 2 remaining teams and have head to head of Y and Z make playoffs? masterwing
In my understanding the way you have it here means going to the next criteria for tiebreaker which is 'points against'. Theres no reason to start over with 'head to head' if youve already dismissed it. You just have to throw out 'head to head' when theres more than two to begin with. And you did that when you went to division record. You gotta keep going down the list. Usually when using this for a tiebreaker the rules that state : "Head to head (Two teams only)" or "Head to Head *Two teams only" Hope this helps instead of making it worse//
the joker
Division first then Head to Head then points for, you can't control points against
The Hurtings
I am commish for a 10 team, 2 division, 5 teams in each division league. Each team plays division opponents twice and none division opponents once. 13 game regular season. First we determine Division Winners: Record, Head to Head, Division Record, Pts for, etc. Once the division winners are determined, the next 4 best records qualify as wild card teams. We throw out division record in the determination process. Thus, we use record, head to head, pts for, etc. If three teams are tied, we only use head to head if all teams tied played the same number of head to head games otherwise we strickly use total points. This avoids three teams tied (two from one division and one from another) where two teams would have 3 head to head games and one team would only have two. Good Luck
