peteteacher2001
So I am getting back in to playing electric guitar live again, I have been in a bluegrass/americana band for the last three years. In that time I sold my old Mesa Boogie DC5 and am now with no amplifier. I have a nice strat, a hollowbody, and lap steel. I am looking to get a nice LITTLE tube amp that won't break the bank. I am thinking of a Fender Junior Pro or a Blues Junior with a Ibanez tube screamer overdrive. Nothing over 15 watts. I have researched a ton on the web but wanted to see if some of my huddle brethren could offer some ideas. thanks, Pete
Kid Cid
I don't think I've ever gone that small, even with tubes. The thing is, with tube stuff, I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for. Personally, I'd open the wallet and get a Mesa Boogie, but that is just me. I currently use a couple of 70 watt Crate hybrids that do the job just fine. I can use only one for smaller gigs and double up for larger venues. They put out a ton of volume for a couple of medium sized jobbies. Plus they are a lot easier to truck around than the Randall half stack I was working with. I know, not much help.
