billay
I'm running XP Home and automatically download updates. After I installed the latest update, it didn;t take. I installed it, rebooted, and it was as though nothing happened. The update was back, asking to be installed again. I have tried several times with no success. I keep installing it and within seconds of installing the update, it has reappeared in the taskbar, waiting to be installed again. tazinib1
I'm the farthest from an IT guy by a long stretch. That being said, I despise Automatic Updates. I have it turned on but set to inform me of an update and to not install. What I do then is copy down the update and I go to the Windows website and manually install myself. lennykravitz2004
Navigate to: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework Look and see what the highest version number listed is for the installed .NET version. For example, I have multiple versions, including v3.0 and v3.5 (just two of the version folders I have). I'm wagering you either have a version higher than the ones currently trying to get installed, or they are already installed and just "didn't take" for whatever reason. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318785 M$FT has two versions of 3.5 put out already. Most recent appears to be v3.5.30729.1. Make sure you have this version number If you keep getting this reminder, you can turn off this update by going to M$FT's update site and uncheck the box for it to download in future updates. yourself as recommended as well. You could try downloading full version from here and then installing. Edited July 12, 2010 by lennykravitz2004
