I have Owen Daniels as my TE and with Stafford out one of these two guys are my best option right now. any clue who gets more time? Also Bradley is out which should help the Detroit TE in the game. ts Posted September 18, 2010 Share Posted September 18, 2010 This article is a bit dated (end-August 2010) so take it FWIW ... from MLive.com, a Michigan-centric web site ... but it offers some insight into what the Lions supposedly want to do, remains to be seen if they can actually accomplish this ... my own $0.02 is that Scheffler will get the majority of the TE targets, whatever that translates to in terms of actual numbers: Because of their personnel and the attacking philosophy of offensive coordinator Scott Linehan, the Detroit Lions' base offense this season will be a two-tight end formation. One of the keys to that strategy, though, is having two tight ends who can catch and block. Brandon Pettigrew was a first-round draft choice last year because he is capable of doing both. Tony Scheffler, though, has earned his reputation in the league as an excellent receiver, not blocker. Scheffler, though, knows that he'll have to improve his blocking skills for the Lions' offense to click. The reason is because Linehan wants to dictate the action to the defense. If the opponent is in a nickel defense, Linehan will keep the tight ends on the line and run.
