Hugh 0ne
2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a Duramax Diesel. Glow plugs come on, normally for a few seconds, unless it's really cold then maybe 15 seconds maximum. Recently, when cold, they are on for upwards of 2 minutes. Since this has started, the truck has problems starting without being jumped. The battery has been replaced, twice. Are the glow plugs failing and needing more time to work and drawing battery power killing the battery? Thanks in advance.
Rebellab
Not sure if they have a 1500, but I have an 05 2500HD Duramax and haven't had this problem. I would say that it is the glow plugs. Mine does exactly what yours used to do. Even at -15 to -20 they will only stay on for a few seconds. These guys might be able to help. They have forums for you specific year and engine model. Good luck E2A: Did a little research and there were a number of issues with 2006-2007.5 glow plugs. Something about recalls and reflashing. Here is one that might help Edited February 2, 2011 by Rebellab
