muck Posted July 5, 2011 Author Share Posted July 5, 2011 (edited) I believe the government told the temple trustees responsible for the temple, that the trustees couldn't protect it adequately, and so they needed to take over. So, the government took it and told the world about the wealth, which, of course, seems like the smart thing to do if you're trying to protect valuables -- wear a sign saying, "I'm loaded!". ...unless, of course, I read it wrong...
