Only 6 teams, and I'm being very generous have a shot at the world cup title (new Zealand, south Africa, Australia, England, france, and Ireland). US has zero chance of even getting to the next stage but they drew a pool where they will be playing for something: they play Russia that has the same ranking as US (18 and 19) for a nice cold war match, and they go up against Italy the only "big team" (and I use the term very loosely) that the US might have the ability to beat.
