Randall Posted March 11, 2006 Share Posted March 11, 2006 Dolphins fly to Alabama to court Brees By Jeff Darlington Palm Beach Post Staff Writer Saturday, March 11, 2006 Miami Dolphins executives - including coach Nick Saban - made an unexpected early-morning flight today to court San Diego Chargers quarterback Drew Brees in Birmingham, Ala., where Brees was rehabilitating his shoulder, a source close to Brees said. The Dolphins were originally scheduled to meet with Brees Sunday in South Florida after he made an overnight visit in New Orleans with the Saints. But the Dolphins - who will still meet with Brees on Sunday - hoped to express their high interest level with the surprise visit. Another source close to the quarterback said "it's tough to say" whether Brees' first choice is Miami or New Orleans, but it appears both teams have a fair shot. "He's still scheduled to get into Miami tomorrow," the second source said. "He's going to make the New Orleans trip today. They seem anxious to have him in. He'll leave Birmingham at noon, and he'll spend the rest of today and part of tomorrow there. Then, he's headed to Miami."
