Grits and Shins
Nope. I have been in leagues with waivers that run once a week with no FCFS. Teams have tried to pick up 2-3 players, but they were all taken before his pick. His team was decimated with byes and injuries so, but couldn't get anyone to trade with him. Rather than submit an invalid lineup and recieve 0 points and basically give the game away, he worked a deal with another guy in the same situation just for a week. I am sure I am in the minority, but I just don't see how that is collusional. Are they combining teams to get a powerhouse team? No, not in the case or two i have seen it. Are they trading scrubs for studs? No, and both teams were still in contention. Are the doing it in a misleading way? No, but I can't say for sure in your situation. In the instances I am taling about it was agreed to as part of the trade, so both parties and all other 10 members knew what was going on. Now if it is happening all the time between the same people thats a different problem. Like others have said, if its against your leauge rules, then don't allow it. If its not, then maybe you can bring it up for next year. Sorry ... that is the most ridiculous thing I have heard. There are waaaaaaaay to many way for things to go wrong when you allow teams to borrow players. Borrowing players is out and out collusion/cheating and I wouldn't be a part of any league that condoned that activity regardless of the circumstances of the owner's teams. I assure you that both owners could have entered enough players in the waivers to pick up warm bodies ... I'm dropping player A and will pick up the first of these players that is availalbe - B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L. However, I'm sure your owners didn't want to think that far or weren't willing to drop a player for the 12th scrub on waivers which means they made their bed and have to sleep in it. If your league has this type of issue then you need to re-evaluate the whole waivers once a week with no FCFS thing which is pretty stupid if you ask me. Clubfoothead
If it is not against the rules then it is not against the rules. Should it be against the rules is a debate for the league in the offseason. Seems pretty simple.
Ziachild007
We all are decimated by byes and injuries....thats the game... How big is the league? There were NO free agents at all? All a team needs is a warm body to not receive a blank for the team...maybe a blank for a player which ive done plenty of times. I think most fantasy football managers are amazed that you do not see how a conditional trade is invalid. That's fine and I am not trying to convince anyone that my way of thinking is right, I was just giving an example of what I have seen. I would much rather see a "borrowed" player in a lineup than see a team not give a damn enough to fill its lineup and be competetive. This happened in my very first league and at the time collusion, tanking and stuff like that wasn't as much of an issue as it is now, IMO. Or maybe we were all just naive and didn't really think that much of it. Either way, I think the bigger FF has gotten and the more people playing it you are going to have to set a more established set of rules. Again, this was a loooong time ago and I am not even in that league anymore, but what happened happened and I didn't think much of it at the time and is really still pretty much a non-issue with me personally. But I do agree that in a redraft if you have waivers, a FCFS period afterwards is totally needed.
