Congrats Steelers!

I didn't see a game thread or anything to add to. Just want to say congrats to the Steelers and their fans. They played a great game yesterday. As disappointing and saddening as a playoff defeat is for any homer of a team coming out on the losing end, I must say that the Steelers played a better game and deserved the win. To me, their OLine and special teams were the big difference. I did not expect the Steelers to be able to run the ball the way they did. And the pass protection for Roethlisberger allowed him to pick our defense apart. That was a good showing for a much maligned unit. And of course, the big special teams punt return by Holmes gave the Steelers a big boost and momentum swing after the Chargers had started the game on fire.

 

There were two drives that pretty much determined the game; the Steelers TD drive before the end of the 1st half and the TD drive to start the 2nd half. Those were both well-executed drives and excruciating as a Charger fan to watch. I don't know how many third and longs the Steelers converted, but it was alot. We couldn't get our defense off the field and our offense on it.

 

I was still proud of the way the Chargers came back and scored two 4th quarter TDs even though the game was lost. The Steelers were pinning their ears back and still throwing safety blitzes at Rivers, and he hung in there and made some great throws.

It was a good game until the end of the third and I thought the chargers played with heart. The tip-turnover and freak punt to the helmet sealed the deal. After that the deficit became to much for the Chargers to overcome, but they did not give up. Good game and better luck next year, hopefully this one will be ours.
