I understand completely when they made the decision to IR him because they weren't going to have his services for quite sometime and therefore, opening the extra roster spot allowed them to add another player (one of which was Mewelde Moore, who turned out to be a significant piece throughtout the season). I didn't think about the possibility of changing the IR rules but maybe that woud be a good idea. Like being able to place a player on IR for the regular season and then if the team makes the post season and the player his healthy enough, they could then return.
