Sturphy
I noticed on a few sites out there that Chad Greenway is being ranked in the 20 or so range for this season. He was the 8th best scoring LB in two of my leagues last year, and as I recall he has been very consistent over the last few seasons. Despite being an OLB. Are there any specifics out there on why he is being ranked that low this season? Was he injured and I didn't know about it? Steve? Kyle? kpholmes
You are correct - he finished at #8 in FDSB. I had him falling to #20 for one specific reason - the rest of the Vikings' supporting cast improves, and Greenway is no longer the only person making big plays. Last season Greenway also had an astronomically high 64 assists. Previous years he's posted 27, 29, 19 and 36. I have that coming down to a much more reasonable 38 assists this season, which is almost a 30 point loss (That would slot him at #10, right between Poz and Weatherspoon). No major red flags - I just think the front four and safeties start playing a more prominent role in the defense.
Sturphy
But wasn't EJ Henderson also making big plays? He's now basically gone, replaced by Brinkley who isn't the same talent and well rounded player that Henderson was. By all accounts, Brinkley is a two down player. I believe Greenway has been inside in the Nickel, so that wouldn't change. I guess they could still add someone at MLB via FA before camp (but as a Brinkley owner... I hope not!) Seems to me Greenway will probably see the field even more than he has previously (which was a lot already, right?). And as an OLB, I'm not sure how much the D-Line influences his production any differently this year than in years past. Is there research out there on how much the D-Line influences OLB production? I could see the safety play improvement eating into his production, but it may be two rookies starting back there. The more I look at it and talk about it, the more I like him this season! I hear you on the 64 assists though. He's just always around the ball. What if 20 of those assists turn into solo's this year because of Brinkley? Are there stats out there on who the assists are shared with? That would be interesting. Here is Greenway's scoring in FDSB for his career: 2011 - 251 points 2010 - 261 points 2009 - 200 points 2008 - 224 points 2007 - 198 points Drafted in 2006, injured his first year. Sturphy
I guess EJ wasn't that "well rounded"... let's just say, bigger playmaker.
keggerz
the difference between Greenway's 20th ranking and the #8 ranked Angerer is the equivalent of 1 solo and 1 assist per week.
Sturphy
It's a little OT, but just read this: http://thevikingage.com/2012/06/12/jasper-brinkley-is-already-hurt-again-does-e-j-henderson-have-his-phone-on/ ha.

keggerz
on a somber note, "Chad Greenway's father battling cancer, in hospice care."
