DuckDuckGoose
And draft WR/WR/WR as your first three picks trying to be ahead of the RB/QB rush and be smart, and end up 1-4 in your league.
delusions of grandeur
Wow, your team must be bad to be penalized an extra loss. Was not the year to wait too long at RB
bushwacked
Adhering to a positional strategy is always a mistake.
Ursa Majoris
Wow, your team must be bad to be penalized an extra loss. Was not the year to wait too long at RB His league probably has a double header early. Many do.
DuckDuckGoose
True but when your drafting 9th in a 12 team league, "Stud" RB's are off the table & Top 4 QB's.
coordi88
if your 3 wr are calvin, aj, and danny ammendola in a ppr league you probably shouldnt be 1-
DuckDuckGoose
No my 3 WR's are Julio, Cruz, Jordy Nelson.
Joebirds55
I went qb te wr...and I'm 3-0 and should be 4-0 unless miles forte and dal d/st make up a 58 pt difference tomorrow. Entirely possible for sure
Joebirds55
But again I've said it in a few threads on here. Your matchups have so much to do with it. Who knows when your opponent has a bad week or when you put up insane stats only to have your opponent somehow out score you
Sprtfan
My first 4 picks were WRs (we can start up to 5 and only have to start one RB) and I'm close to the top of my league in points scored. 12th pick in a 12 team league. Went Fitz, AJ Green, Cruz and Bowe.
Joebirds55
Yeah I've seen different records for different strategies across the board. For instance guy in my league went foster Dmc and another went ray rice and Murray. They're at the bottom third of the league. Whereas myself and another guy (he went Calvin cam) are near the top. I think it's highly match up based when comparing your record to others
DuckDuckGoose
It could be based off scoring. For example. Nelson & Jones killed it for me. Turner had a decent game but of course I'm against Drew Brees who gets my opponent 55 points. Now I'm not particular bashing my record on my Receivers but when I'm looking at "Projected" Points and they fall well below, there is an issue. Joebirds55
Agreed. Scoring is also huge. I was looking at my matchup and it looks like I should be killing it yet only up an attainable amount
SheikYerbuti
If you waited on RB and wound up with Bush and Ridley, you're probably at least .500.
Joebirds55
Yeah that's another point. I waited til the 4th rd and my rb are fjax spiller turner quizz mendy leshoure. Not lighting the world on fire but spiller was huge for me, as well as leshoure last week, and turner seems to find the end zone consistently. Would I rather have a true rb1 like rice or foster sure. But I'll take being in 1st place
DuckDuckGoose
See my draft I went all out on WR's, thinking Jones, Nelson & Cruz would light the world on fire. I ended up with a decent but pretty consistent Turner & BJGE and Eli Manning dropped to the 6th Round for me. Now one week, the week The Giants played a heck of a game I scored 176 pts to my opponent 114. The other 3 weeks I have either barely cracked 100 or don't at all due to either Jones/Nelson being absent and previously the Steelers not able to defend a crawling baby worth their life. Joebirds55
Tough break. Example last week two guys in my league tied at 93. Not gonna get into our scoring but I'd say the average is between 110 and 140...so if you don't throw up triple digits you should lose. Yet both had a chance to win with terrible matchups. So you really never know...you could go the whole year facing the high score week to week. Never know
DuckDuckGoose
Its possible, but I'm more inclined to blame my drafting as a result of my poor record. The inconsistency of the WR position which could make a break your team seems to be my causality.
Joebirds55
Also agree. Andre Johnson has been feast or famine for me. Very frustrating. Rb are atleast guaranteed touches
cliaz
This is why i prefer auction leagues over serpentine draft leagues.
