Kansas State 2000 Posted August 5, 2004 Share Posted August 5, 2004 LINCOLN, Neb. -- Although new coach Bill Callahan talks about his desire to win championships at Nebraska, he and athletic director Steve Pederson agree that it is going to be a step-by-step process with no set timeline. Callahan said the first step is to beat Kansas State -- a fact Pederson grudgingly acknowledges. Asked whether he thought he would ever see the day when Nebraska would be chasing the Wildcats, Pederson on Wednesday told the Associated Press, "It was hard for me to fathom. "But when you've lost to them four out of six times ..." The Cornhuskers open preseason practice on Monday and play their first game Sept. 4 at home against Western Illinois. Nebraska, though 10-3 last season, lost to Missouri, Texas and K-State by a combined 70 points. :g-bigshock: K-State, which reports for preseason workouts today and begins practicing on Friday, is favored to repeat as the Big 12's North Division champion. Missouri was picked second ahead of Nebraska. The Wildcats have won their last three home games against Nebraska, and last season they amassed a whopping 561 yards of offense in a 38-9 road rout. Kansas State will play host to Nebraska on Oct. 23, while Missouri will visit Lincoln the following week. "The balance of power within this division has changed," Callahan said. "We've got to do a good job of getting back and dominating the Big 12 North. Kansas State has proved they can win and control this division. We have to get back to beating Kansas State." The point of this topic is that NU is looking up at KSU, they are looking to get back to where KSU is currently at. We want to be respected by our fellow BIG 12 members, if they want to hate us for our wins then oh well. We do not hate NU we just enjoy the wins. Akfatha Posted August 7, 2004 Share Posted August 7, 2004 we hate you? cmon dude, neb fans are a little bit more respectable than that . i'll be honest and say majority of husker fans i know agree that we're looking up at KSU, but no doubt do we believe we'll be past you all within a couple/few years. i think what snyder has done at KSU is great, and we don't care that you've beat us recently because we've destroyed you all so much. hey btw thanks for kicking sooner ass in the big 12 title game. just dont think we HATE you , cause we dont, im actually pulling for sproles for the heisman.
